Tornadoes Come a Callin'

Hey ya'll...

Did ya' hear we done had a fury of tornadoes round heah?

Hoo-whee, iffin' ya's watchin' the news, you heered o' the trouble. Thank the mercy of heaven Aunty Belle and Uncle is OK....but 19 folks died from the screechin' banshees that tore through here last night.

'Bout 4:30 I'se waked by a funny air--ya know what I mean?
It had been warm, so we had windows open--
and the air was sorta odd...and still,
when before you could identify it in yore mind,
a hellish, shrieking monster
slashed over us, and then the night
opened its maw and torrents fell like niagra falls--
ya could not see four inches fro your face,
fer the sheeting rain....

But we's been spared the horror of the little towns 25 miles uo from us. Say a little prayer for these poor souls who lost ever'thang.

Hope all of ya'll is well, and safe.

YA'll is so sweet to come by--I does appreciate you encouragement--

Onct' afore we had a tornado, only it did come right in the doors and out the back--and it were a shure nuff miracle cause the folks behind us a had their roof scalped, and found their furniture in the lake. Such events will get yore attention.

What is the worst "natural disaster" ya'll have been through?

Hugo was meanness, fer shure. The damage is beyond belief. Uncle and me onc't drove through the Gulf Coast of Mississipi and saw how much horror sill remained after hurricane Donna 3 years after. Lawdy!

worst natural disaster for me - the '89 earthquake here in the bay area. we were ok, but i'll never forget running from the bathroom where i was a-twinklin', pulling up my jeans, heading for the living room where my babies were watching sesame street. they grabbed onto me - one holding each leg, and we watched the walls levitate for what seemed like a long time - before i snapped out of it and moved the three of us to the doorway for safety.

we filled up the bathtub later with water, in anticipation of no water service.

we were fine though a little freaked. i had always enjoyed earthquakes before that, but not then. not with babies to fret over. their father was out of town on business and we spent the night together in our big bed, with storybooks and the flashlight.

far worse i guess was the power outage of 97. we had no power for four days because of storms and the incompetency of the gas and electric company. we cooked meals on the coleman stove on the frontporch and shared coffee in the morning with neighbors. but it was dark and damp and depressing - our home seemed a dank cave in the evenings, despite flickering candles and hand shadow games and the battery-operated radio.

sorry to go on so long...

here i am aunty in california! there's more "yogis" out here than in jellystone park! OMMMmmm

grrherhahaha

i know this is more of a back poarch kinda thang ta say but as i took in some drunken mexicans in town today, i thought. you know, i just gotta trust in the "universe" that it will all work out. by the time the jihadi's make their way to el norte (for real) they will have tequila fueled machete wielders to contend with.

grrrherherhaha.

there aint no sugar, aunty. its "stevia" and half and half? forgeddaboutit. oh boy its soy. but they got some turkey bacon just in case us hicks get uppity with out our "lube."

oh and they duped me last night with some tofu ice cream sandwiches. which i gotta admit..were pretty good.

see ya aunty.
