Turkey Trot
*New Post at Ether Capacious
Some folks down our way who ain't got enough cookin' to do on Thanksgivin' mornin' haul theyselves outa bed a dawn-thirty to race along the city boulevards dressed as turkeys.
Some of our kin wuz up to this game, so Uncle an' me hitched up the buggy early morn an' hustled into the metropolis to see what thar wuz to see. Turns out, plenty. Gobblers. Or pilgrims. Or Indians.
Turkey Tutus, too....
At wee-early hours it is COLD, blankets are understood...
The sun comes up an' what a pretty mornin'!
Lots 'o strange headgear....a Christmas light turkey head observer.
I jes' wonder...would any of y'all let a strange lady snap yore pic wif' bird on yore haid??
The coveted Turkey Trot shirt...
Chief TurkeyTrot and Tribe
Potassium breakfast....
Never too young for the warm-up....
along for the ride...
Of course, the footware be a post of its own...
A few game kiss-the-cook contestants...
gave the chefs a run-for-the-turkey
Some actually raced ...
But all wuz winners!
* Doan strain yore eyes, none of Aunty's clan be in these pics--well, a couple of pairs of shoes, but thas' all.

I love people who will be silly for a good cause! You are right, all winners :o)
what fun! plus a good way to burn off some calories before the belly gets stuffed!
that was fun!! I love all the costumes...still trying to figger out the dude in the suit of a skinless man - but my favorite was the grim little pilgrim in black and white. poor chile. Nobody dressed as green bean cassarole!
Good to see you kids getting out. Uhrm, if I ever wear a funny hat, I will let you take my picture. More than likely it would be at my funeral, literally over my dead body, though.
All I can say is it looked life fun, save the flaming pink running shoes. I'm too old, or something. Then again, maybe you snapped them because... well... Never mind. :p
Good evening Aunty Bell,
Looks like a fun time.
A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and Uncle.
How cool that you hitched along for the fun! I've never been able to run our local Turkey Trot. One day :o)
@ Chickory
Is that dressed like the green giant with onion rings on your head?
I love the goodness of people. This looked to be a fine family start to the holiday. So nice of you to share :-)
OH AUNTY!
I felt right at 'home' seeing the lovely pictures of Lake Eola and downtown Orlando.
*sigh*
I love that a good portion of people dressed up for the Turkey Trot.
People here don't dress, it's usually snowing or raining and COOOOOOLD!
