Brokeback Belle

Yoo hoo, young'uns.

Aunty Belle has been poked and proded, x-rayed, MRI'd, measured and pressured.
A broke back ain't no joke, I'm a tellin ya. Doan wish it on my enemy (iffin I have any, Lawdy!!) Won't be no information fer a week, but fer now, I gotta take me some steroids and grin and bear it. Gave up those Alexanders (and the bittersweet choclolate) for Lent so I ain't even got that to ease me over the pain..drat.

Ya'll know what? When I got mah ashes, I was really thinking what it meant--how weren't no brokebacks in the garden of eden. Only health and happiness. Dang if Eve didn't cause a passel o' touble when she chomped down on what did not belong to her. Tore a whole in the universe, she did.

Ever notice how in the first book of the bible it says that "it is not good for man to be alone." I notice it doan say THAT about the woman--she might like to be alone!

Nope...it says she is a gift to the man who had all them animals and the whole earth, but something were a missin'. So.....he gets a part of hisself made into somethin' utterly fetching and rather different, for all the her sameness in the human sort of way. He doan even know he is a man til she comes along--he named everything but hisself, then she appears and Lo! Now he knows he is a HE. He knows he is a HE only after he got him a HER. (Ok, that's far enough or I'll be a blushin')

This-a-way they doan go off being narcissis, in love with they own selves.

Aunty Belle is goin' to confession with you'all! OK--ya'll know that confession is not for publication--so keep this to yourself. Promise?

Here is mah confession. I am wild about the menfolk. No kiddin'. They is jes' SO interesting.

Now, hush! You know I doan mean THAT kind of wild (that too, but for Uncle Aloysius only o'course! This here is the FRONT poa-rch so I aim to maintain a modicum of decorum 'round heah.)

NO, no, I mean that men's minds are down right fascinatin' to me. Love talkin' to menfolk. Jes' love it.

I can't imagine a world with only feminine minds--gag! (sorry sweet girls, nothin' against you, but ya'll knw what I mean). I am jes' old enough to realize that if you try to drive with two flat tires on the right side o' the car, you gonna go in circles--same with minds--if you only have one and not t'other, why nothin' much is gonna happen--it takes both ways o'thinkin' don't it? I mean, in order to really "see" reality, I needs a window onto the world from a male perspective, through his mind, or I am gonna miss somethin'. I doan like to miss much.

Here's a true story to illustrate mah thought:

Uncle Aloysius and me were a drivin' to North Carolina along that roadway that's cut through the mountain. He says, "LOOKY! See that doe and her two fauns up thar' on the left?" Now we was goin' 80 mile an hour, so by the time he said LOOK, we had traveled another 100 yards.

No. No I did not. "Youse seeing thangs" I smirked. Uncle and me was younger then, and we both had 20-10 vision, (and was known to boast about that). It weren't possible that he could see somethin' I couldn't see.

"Naw, naw, Belle, look!

Another 100 yards clicked by...wait! Yes, I did see them critters...Lawdy, they WAS there.

Now how is it that Uncle saw something with eyes no better than mine, as tested by science?? Ain't it mystery?

Not really. I knows that men are jes' wired differently and they sees thangs like patterns and movements and smells and noises we ladies jes' ain't tuned to....And iffin I didn't have uncle that day, why, I'd have missed a reality that I am not tuned to, for all it being really, really there without mah even knowing or noting.I betcha' you girls have similar experiences.

Course, we ladies have ways of "seeing" that the menfolk need too--and that's it, ya' see--it takes both halves, ourself and the OTHER to make a whole ONE. Otherwise, none of us would ever get the WHOLE picture of what there is to get. Who can be satiisfied with half the picture? Half the reality?

OH mercy, this ole' brokeback cain't sit in this chair much longer--jes' gotta stand-up...and the lemonade pitcher is empty, lemme go make us a fresh batch.

Hi Belle, glad you are back home.

Interesting post.

Did you know that straight women AND gay men have an extra bone in their ear, but gay women (dykes) , and straight men, do not have this bone.

This bone makes it possible for to hear a baby crying in the next room. Women and sissies hear it, bull-dikes and he-men do not.

That is all I have to say for now. An interesting scientific fact recently discovered in the last five years.

Go to my blog and find Ben's flower, or click on the link called "Becosimos" on the right hand side in the li8nks area....and find Ben, he has the worst back pain right now too, and has an interesting perspective on it.
Everyone LOVES Ben, I bet you will too. (He is Swiss)

Oh gracious chile' do you mean that Dennis McFadden hypothesis? Peer review was not supportive, I heard.

Interesting enough for some checkin'on though. I'll take a look-see.

Mostly, though, sweet pet, it is a developmental missptep, not genetic.

And I'll jes' drop in on Ben, too. Always fun to make new friends.

Learning to get used to your sweet talking accent from way down yonder here. I shall get the rythm in no time I hope ( maybe putting on my Gregorian Chants may help??)
Nah it wasn't Eve's fault if the stupid male couldn't keep his hands to himself. He should've known better but as usual women get blamed for even being raped.... she asked for it. Well, actually NO!
A story that shows the stupidity of men and the blame taking of women.
LEts not spread it any more ey?
Cheers

Hey Belle, I'm with you on the whole different perspective thing. I love the way men's brains are wired. My brain is wired a little odd tho' I got both boy & girl brains - I don't get a lot of the girl talk.

I think the difference in hearing is a selective function - same as sight sometimes - but other times, well its amazing.

Been good to catch up again & thanks for coming to my place.

Hey ya'll!
Alison, oh my, chile, you are a fan of Gregorian Chant/ Me too! --I got a real doozy fer ya, iffin' you ain't heard it yet.... a jazzy, saxyphone
ooverlay on chant--Jan Garbek's Officium.

Ladies, (Bluebolt I'm jes' tickled tha you are stopping by!)
Now 'bout that time back in Eden--'course it wasn't Eve's fault only--Adam was a lump on a log---and first thing he did was blame God! ("Aw shucks, God. it were that WOMan that you gave me who done it, not me")

God wasn't impressed with Adam's lilly livered dodge...poor God...anyway, the thang I cain't stand is women who think they's somehow advanced by slashing at the menfolk. (for every slimy guy, honey, they is a pair of conivin' manipulatin' gals. )

Pshaw!

THe plain truth is the innocent and trusting of either sex get taken in by the sly ones of both sexes.

But I guess, honey, mah larger point is that when you look at how things is lined up on this here planet, why, it is clear that we need each other--a world leaning too far one way or the oother is unbalanced and starts to spin outa' control.

A world where the authentic feminine insight and virtue and influence is lost, is a world of too much masculinized ,mechanized competition and quarreling... but almost worse is a world of false "feminism"
--that'd be an ideology that demands women be manish...that is to be "equal" she has to act like the worst of the menfolk?

No sir, no mam.

An ole' lady can admit to this: Men need women in order to aspire to something noble. When we women forget to be ladies, the menfolk revert to a baser form of existence.

And we women need the menfolks so as to know when sentimentality and sensitivity ain't cuttin'it, and he is willin' to step up to the plate and deal with harsh realities of life. Thank God he is, too.

But as for "equality", I doan believe in it. As mah mama said, "Equal? Why would I want to be equal with men? I prefer to remain superior" Heh, heh..

Actually, I think the difference in ladies and gentlemen are delightful and ought to be thoroughly enjoyed and celebrated! (with due sadness for those who have not had a trusted experience) The whole point is this--let's us not let that ole' snake trick us outa ANOTHER good thing--let's not war against each other, but help each other as we was meant to do in the first dang place.

yeah, Aunty. did you see Freya's post about lecht and daark? (it has NOTHING to do with me, mind you) she writes about not having the luxury of only making a beautiful home and life or looking after pups. she's gotta be taking down stags now to prove her value, and sadly, lost it all in that pursuit. She "to put down the instument of creation and pick up a different one...." well, such is the landscape.
Nature's order is so simple isnt it? yet we're always in a snarl over this stuff. makes me wanna
