Moi is our hostess fer Haiku Monday this week--her theme is Vengeance.

In her post announcin' this week's theme, Moi mentioned how this blog community has been in slacker mode--mebbe it's on account of work, or bizzy family situations or any number of personal reasons.

But is that all?  Ain't we always been workin'? An' most ever'body has been dealin' wif personal time drains at some point in our blog history. Please come participate in Aunty's Blogger Beef survey at Ether Capacious.

Meanwhile, from mah wanderings in other gardens (since mah own is droopy from heat, mountain gardens t'were the antidote)

Meanwhile iffin' youse in the mood fer grist, the
Back Porch discussion of euthanasia an' Obamacare continues...

Where Would You Go?

Hey all ya'll!

I'se been trippin' down memory lane an' had such a fun time thinkin' of some places I have been. Natcherly, I thinks I will/can go back whenever I want. But that ain't true. Some places I woan see again, no matter how much I wish't I could see it one more time.

So, thinkin' along these lines, I wondered, what is the ONE place I really would go back to if I only had ONE more trip? Oooh, thas' a toughy. Would ya choose adventure? Or comatose chiilin' out? Mebbe the best would a dear memory--be whar' ya grew up, or whar' yore grandparents came from?

Would ya'll tell me whar' you would go? Iffin' ya had jes' one trip left in yore life, whar' would ya go back? And why is it so special to ya? Later I wanna explore whar' we'uns wanna go that we ain't been yet..but fer now, whar would ya go that you already have been, an' would return if it were the last trip of yore life???

I'll be seein' ya'! (Contest alert)

Ya'll, Aunty is "leavin', on a jet plane, doan know when I'll be back again..."

Soon enough I'll fine mah way home, meanwhile, I shure wish you sweet thangs would leave me a welcome home poem--a special kinda poem, a limerick.

I'se draggin' home an eye-talian souvenir for whichever one of ya'll writes the best-est limerick.

It's easy to write--and FUN!

Limericks are five lines long and the rhyme pattern for the lines is AABBA

Mostly the meter is: 8 -9 syllables in each "A" line, 5 or 6 syllables in the two "B" lines. (lines 3&4 are short)

Here's a cracker example:

Aunty Belle’s jaws, they won’t be flappin,

Cause her toes, they’s jes’ a tappin’

She’s itiching ter roam free

O'er tha'r in Italy

But left Uncle on the porch nappin’.

Limericks can take spellin' lightly --part of the fun--or even adjust words so they will rhyme:

A young man of unknown idenity
Went swimming in our vicinity
Because he was nuda
A blind baracuda
Ran off with his masculinity

Usually the topics is funny or even nonsensical:

There was an old person of Florence,
Who held mutton chops in abhorrence;
He purchased a Bustard,
And fried him in Mustard,
Which choked that old person of Florence.

That one is from Edward Lear--famous fer limericks:

Ya'll already knows some limericks:

What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails
And puppy-dog tails,
That's what little boys are made of.

The limericks can be a tongue-in -cheek commentary on current discussions:

There once was a monkey at the zoo
Who had a lot of growing up to do,
He'd ring a doorbell,
then run like hell,
Until the owner shot him with a .22

Said an ape as he swung by his tail,
to his off-spring, both girly and male
"From your progeny, my dears,
in a just a few years
there'll evolve professors at Yale."

They can even be a wee bit naughty (BUT not vulgar!) :

A swimmer whose clothing was strewed
By winds that left her quite nude
Saw a man stroll along
And unless we are wrong
You expected this line to be lewd!

An' note this here warning from a famous limerick writer:

The limerick is furtive and mean.
You must keep it in close quarantine,
Or she sneaks to the slums,
And promptly becomes
Disorderly, drunk and obscene.

Is ya'll game? Well, then...ter play fair make your doggerel original, keep it clean enough fer Aunty's tender eyes and ears, (mildly spicey is OK) and the try to make it pertain to our bloggin' folks or topics.

Ciao, ya'll.

Ants in Mah Pants

Note: New Post on BACK Porch"Work on the Roam"

Hey ya'll.... I shure did miss ever'body durin' my Lenten hiatus ... but I did notice ya'll made out jes' fine wif'out Aunty B lookin' over ya shoulders.

I done had mah fill now of deviled eggs and chocolate bunnies....but mercy! What a Spring we is havin'! We even had a lost duck lay her eggs at the end of the rose bed in a clump of ferns! Imagine the surprise of Easter Egg hiders when t hey found those eggs in the very sot they though to hide some eggs!

The flowers is too gorgeous to describe, the sky so blue, grass green enough ter hurt yore eyes..
But I still is hearin' the call.

Ya know? That tug at the heart , that yearnin' in the bones to be on the move....

I'se always content to git home afterwards, but I knows when I'se wastin' effort to resist--I gotta git ter roamin' here now here in a few weeks--got the bug, ants in mah knickers.... "I'm a-leavin' on a jet plane" but I does know when I'll be back again...

So tis here is what I'se wonderin': Whar does ya'll wanna go? If ya had ONE surprise trip to take this year, whar' would ya go?
