Oh Mercy Maud!

Granny is still in the hospital--which ain't a bad thang, cause it means we still has her!

She is weak an' very sick--but last night we shared a laugh or two--the first in days. Couple of clan folks showed up an' we had a good hour of jawin', though Granny cain't talk so much--the coughin' gits her, an she is jes' so weak--but her mind an' wit is as ever--SHARP!

We's had some unbelievably great nurses an' techs...some not so much, cause' folks, life happens to hospital people too--they kids git bad report cards, they wives blistered the Visa card, their shoes is too tight, a transmission died in their one vehicle....what a microcosm--I know, I'se had plenty of days to observe!

Wish I had time to answer all the sweet comments an' fun responses to Huck an' books an such in mah prior post--please fergive me--I'll be back round to yore blogs soon.

Hi AUntie, you must have been posting while I was putting up a comment on Huck. Glad you still have granny. And I totally understand about the microcosm of hospital workers. It is a world unto itself. But nothing finer in this world than a thoughtful and caring nurse.

What Pam said about a thoughtful and caring nurse, for sure.
Our granny is in hospital recovering from a mild stroke. The rehab folks are doing a wonderful job.
Sending good thoughts your way.

Good evening Aunty Belle,

What a blessing, Grannies mind is still sharp. I used to send jokes to folks, I knew in the hospital. One a day, to help them feel better because, laughter is the best medicine.

I will see if I can come up with a few suitable for her ear. And try to send you a day.

For starters: a police officer sees a blond driving down the highway kniting. He pulls up alongside her and yells, "Pull over". She yells back " No cardigan".

Aunty Belle,
I am pleased to read Granny is still with you!
It seems like I have been reading about Granny's hospital stays ever since I started reading your blog. I think this is a fine testament to faith and medicine. Some of the best medicine folks I know say they do their utmost to be God's workers. It sure sounds like you have been blessed to have some of those fine, generous, good smart folks looking after you and Granny. I also know how very challenging these hospital vigils can be so Godspeed to you both!

LOL @ Karl's joke. Do you and Granny knit?

My best friend's husband is back in the hospital . . . now Chickie's with her mama . . . entirely too much of this going around.

You and Granny stay sharp and keep laughin', you hear?

My step father spent the past couple summers in and out of the hospital with heart valve problems. Each and every one of the doctors and nurses who cared for him impressed me with their knowledge, patience, and kindness. That makes all the difference when you're scared and stressed.

I'm glad to hear Granny seems to be under similarly outstanding care.

a good caretaker can make all of the difference, but family is the true tonic.

Karl's joke made me laugh, so I hope it brings you one too.

My prayers are with Granny and you and yours. xoxox

HI Aunty, thanks for the update. I'm sorry Granny is still feeling so poorly, it is terrible when your body fails you and doesn't keep up with what your head wants it to do. My thoughts and well wishes are with you, Granny and your family. xo
