WEARY TO THE BONE
Global Corruption is the topic on the Back Porch
Come on by say what's on yore minds about it...
As fer the Front Porch, reckon' the trouble is, I jes' ain't in the mood to type out "lighter fare" these days. I try. (A blogger onc't fussed at Aunty when serious matters turned up on the Front Porch.) I make a glass of lemonade an' jes' sit...
...the ice melts an I still cain't make lighthearted banter come to mind when thar's such a heap of serious stuff afoot that makes me weary to the bone.
All ain't lost though...I'll be poppin' on over to yore blogs fer a look-see.
Iffin' I give mahself a good talkin' to, an' git mah light-talk self together, I'll be back. (This might portend a series of serious BACK PORCH posts.)

Wow! Aunty I would happily come rock on that pretty, shady porch to sip some lemonade with you. I've had a spell of the blahs myself of late so I can understand your listlessness.
Reckon I'll say some prayers for you and mosey over again real soon.
Hey Fishy
well...thanky fer the sweet thoughts.
Kinda hard to "lighten up" when the Barbarians ( felonious financiers, politicians of both persuasions, colluding media, academic traitors wif' comic book versions of history) done took over the joint--an' worst? It's our own fault fer not mindin' the store.
So...no Front Porch posts fer a spell--doan wanna dampen the good mood of others wif' mah doomy gloom.
don't go dark on us. Walker Percy (8/21) was light but serious.
another story? like Old Men and Baby Ducks ( 4/2009)
I put myself into a sugar induced coma over the weekend, baking with my nephew, but it's only a quick fix to the reality of the world.
I'm glad you're just sitting sitting for a bit. There's something to be said for a break.
Now, off to the back porch.....
comments about pastor terry jones please.
I'm feeling the weight of the world these days, as well. This, too, shall pass, I assume. I hope.
Good afternoon Aunty Belle,
The lighter side of Blogging helps me to feel that it's not so bad after all. Although, it may be much like Niro playing the violin while Rome burned.
Anon,
well, thanky--mebbe a story will be next...never know.
Boxer
what did ya bake? yum--an intense encounter wif' sugar, flour an' butter is good fer what ails ya'..what's wrong wif' all us'uns that we doan git some gumption up??
Anon #2
Terry Jones? Why Chile' it's the same as the NYC mosque buildin' iman, ain't it? They have a right to build it, an' Pastor Jones has a right to burn the Korans...but both actions is a trashy, hurtful thang to do, rather inelegant.
Fer all those folks in a lather over pastor Jones, lemme jes suggest that as foolish as it is, it is merely foolish and dramatic...but it is a heap more reasonable than the scheduled stoning of the poor woman in Iran--which would you rather identify wif', a nation that allowed koran burning or one that allowed stoning of women? jes' sayin' that the media knickers is in a twist over the wrong issue.
Moi, Cherie
somethin' got aholt of us--I is off to D.C. area fer work an is real glad it ain't in the city cause the stench of corruption makes me wanna gag. See? tole y'all I wuz not fit company. sorry.
Karl,
luvin' yore avatar...: )
Ya know what--youse RIGHT! the lighter side has value--if nuthin' else to keep us engaged. I'se remiss--I know that. It's jes' that it seems anythang I'd post about is so ...irrelevant?
May give up an jes' post pics fer a spell.
Y'all is the greatest.
Hello dear Auntie. I hope all is well with you. It's been a while since I've checked in, and I'm sorry it's taken me so long. I just wanted to let you know I'm back. For good. This September is a turning point in my life, and I plan to document my journey. I'm sure it'll be boring, but hey, boring is what I do best. :)
Kymmie!! Baby chilr' I'se so happy to see ya
Again!! Youse a sight fer sore eyes, puddin'.
An one thang fer shure--youse not the leat borin'
An I is anxious to hear all about yore
Journey.
Good afternoon Aunty Belle,
So you've had enough of the corruption and your coming D.C. to clean the town up right?
When will you be in the area? If you have time, perhaps I could take you to lunch?
Hi AB
There is a difference between terry jones and stoning.
The stoning will not lead to any more unnecessary deaths.
Pastor Jones puerile actions probably will. His own folks. Probably kidnapped, somewhere. Probably beheaded.
Hopefully not your son.
So go on, for once. Be unequivocal. Denounce him.
I dare you.
Karl, heh--a mini summit? very temptin'!
Anon,
oh gracious, mah bonnie friend-
yore dare is kinda flat ain't it? What about "trashy, hurtful an' inelegant" seems equivocal to ya'?
As fer stonin' not leading to "unnecessary deaths," now ain't that intriguin' term----I cain't go wif' yore assessment.
Stonin' that poor Iranian woman WILL lead to more stonin'--we all know that any father/ brother/ husband whose daughter/ sister/ or wife is tiresome is emboldened by this barbaric execution under the peaceful religion's sharia law.
Burin' a few books ain't in the league wiff' stonin' a woman, is it? Doan tell me youse conflatin' burin' books wif stonin' wimmen?
How can burin' a few books cause anyone to be in harm's way, unless of course, the ROP ain't a ROP.
Try this thought experiment: A Muslim cleric and fifty followers burn a pile of bibles. How many Muslims are beheaded by angry Christians?
Last thang on Pastor Jones:
his proposed burin' of korans has internal logic. The Koran justifies sharia law. Sharia law would prohibit the freedom to live as Americans, including the free speech rights that allow the burnin' of the koran. Burnin' them korans is a statement that we will not permit sharia law to be imposed on us, will not permit it in this nation. It's clumsy, it's sophomoric, it's petty, but it has a certain core logic.
Good morning Aunty Belle,
So, let me tempt you. How's tomorrow?
No pressure, It would be fun if you can. If not I understand.

why didnt Ardliar sign in?
wussup aunty? busy on fall garden. nothing seems as bad anymore now that 80% of my time is spent outside. no tv either. cept for top chef, PR and MadMen.
Jus' checkin' in on ya. Been strugglin' wi' despair over the future o' the human race myownseff. Honestly, who gives a flyin' fig that Taylor forgave Kanye or Tiger lost his mojo or Lindsay got caught spittin' in the wind??? SICK of so-called 'news' bits! And editors (there are, apparently, no more reporters out there) trying for all they're worth to goad someone into beheading some poor innocent so they can have more cr*p to stir while sayin' 'we told you so'! *sigh*
In short, I empathize.
Seems like a lot of us are feeling the same. I am weary of all the hate and hysteria out there and as a reaction, just blocked three people from sending me email. I asked them nicely (many times) to please stop sending me racist, divisive stuff and they don't. I feel like a weight has lifted off my shoulders. Diva got too much to do than to respond to people that will never open their minds or their hearts (or even research the crap before they send it on to even see if its true!)
Also, I was getting too serious on my blog about some issues and feeling just the opposite of you, I have to get back to my old snarky silly self. I have to, I feel too much.
Um, Aunty, may I have my lemonade with vodker, please? I hope you have a great weekend!
To be a adroit benign being is to procure a kind of openness to the in the seventh heaven, an ability to guardianship undeterminable things beyond your own control, that can take you to be shattered in very exceptional circumstances as which you were not to blame. That says something exceedingly weighty about the prerequisite of the ethical autobiography: that it is based on a trust in the up in the air and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a weed than like a treasure, something fairly tenuous, but whose mere particular attractiveness is inseparable from that fragility.
To be a adroit charitable being is to from a philanthropic of openness to the mankind, an ability to group aleatory things beyond your own restrain, that can take you to be shattered in hugely extreme circumstances on which you were not to blame. That says something exceedingly important relating to the prerequisite of the principled passion: that it is based on a corporation in the unpredictable and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a plant than like a prize, something somewhat dainty, but whose extremely special attraction is inseparable from that fragility.
