Jolly Old Santa Claus

"Can I borry this book please Aunty?" The visitin' chile has quietly turned the pages back an' forth in wonder.

"Oh Angel, mebbe it needs to live here fer a while wif' Uncle an me on account of it is a very OLE book. But someday it will need a good place to live --a place where someone will love it an be sure it comes out at Christmas time. When that time comes, I reckon I should send it over to yore house. Would ya give a good place to live an' be sure lots of chillen's can look at it? "

Curious, I checked the ole book sources fer the original versions of Jolly Old Santa Claus, illustrations by George Hinke. Mercy! The hardcover original is about $400. But ours is worth much much more---ain't no price to set on a book loved by many members of yore clan.

Merry Christmas, y'all!

It is a beautiful book indeed and I hope your Christmas present was finding out you have an original hardcover edition. Merry Christmas to you and yours. And pray for K9 because temptation in the way of a Gustav Klimt book has come her way, and who can blame her?

We have a very old The Night Before Christmas Pop-up book that the kids use to look at when they were small. Maybe I'll get it out this year and see what happens.

Merry Christmas to you, Uncle and Granny.

What a gorgeous book! As children, my brother and I each had Advent Calendars that were beautifully illustrated like that – I remember a similar feeling of proud possession each year they were brought out.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Aunty!

I love the intricate art work, if I was a kid I'm certain I would be fascinated with it! (As an adult too)

It amazes me how I remember certain books from my youth and could look at them for hours. I loved Where the Wild Things Are. We had an animal book that I just adored and always wanted to go to Madagascar to see an actual sloth or lemur!

Happy Christmas Aunty to you and yours and wishing you a bountiful New Year! x

Merry Christmas Aunty to you and the Clan and, of course, your granny cracker.

Love this wonderful, magical , classical Christmas memory. We are book lovers here at the Pond. Part of our Christmas
"decorations" is to put all the Christmas stories out from Blowfish's childhood, mine and Mermaids. I read these throughout the holidays and pack them carefully every year so they will be around for future generations to enjoy. Don't know as we have any as valuable as yours, but prize each and every one.
