Throwdown!!

Our lovable Troll-Chef done issued a Culinary Throwdown Challenge...heh. Yep, the Troll of Mute Monday Fame. Check wif Troll fer the rules, or heck, maybe it is wild-west style--ain't no rules.

I doan know how many horses is in the Southern Culinary field, but the competition is shapin up to be fierce (in a friendly sort of way.) I know two accomplished contenders that I fear may run off wif' all the Troll Points: Big Shamu of Karmic Kitchen fame,

and FC over at Pure Florida

who brings his Minorcan heritage into his kitchen--and his New Grill! Check out this Pure Florida offering hot off the New Grill

But, then the K9-- on hiatus at Chickory did offer an inventive southern twist, Catfish Tacos, as one idea... an that leads me to think a dark horse could sneak up long the rail for the dash to the finishline...only to find Moi is thar in high heel beauties servin' up Bitten Apple Clofouti from her Baking Blog

Meanwhile, Aunty ain't rollin' over an' playin' dead--I'se gonna give it a good try despite the stellar competition. I'se assemblin' mah secret ingredients....

C'mon y'all an get in the fray--it ain't too late!!

Jes' Peas, please.

Note: New post on Back Porch

A thunderstorm passed through in late afternoon, scrubbin' the air clean. I love that. It leaves what we'uns call The Green Light. I stood on the back porch lookin' at the green air hoverin' over the shrubs and the bird feeder. The back gate clanged so I knowed someone was comin' round back.

"Hey theah Belle!"

It were young Raleigh Jenkins wif'a bushel of acre peas what had been shelled already--an' thas' gold! I'd be half the night blanchin' and freezin' these beauties. Ain't talkin' about cow peas, or purple hull peas, but them itty bitty white acre peas--thas' akshully light green.

"Oh, Darlin' youse a Prince Charmin'!! " I bubbled.

We doan even imagine a Thanksgivin' wif' out them peas. Cooked wif' ham hocks of course. Not many outside the South knows of these wee peas. Lordy, thanky fer makin' us'uns Southern!!
(I is sorry ya'll is so underprivileged...really.)
